Frederick E. “Fritz” Reiger
Frederick E. “Fritz” Reiger, 98, of Boscobel, and formerly of Wauzeka, passed away on Thursday, March 29, at the Boscobel Care and Rehab in Boscobel.
He was born Sept. 20, 1919 at Harris Ridge, Marietta Township, Crawford County. He was the son of Frederick and Laura (Onstine) Reiger. He married Ruth Ward on Dec. 1, 1943, in Steuben. Fritz and Ruth have been married for 75 years. Fritz farmed all of his life on the family farm which was a mile stone of 150 years. Fritz enjoyed hunting, fishing and enjoyed making maple syrup in the spring.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Reiger, of Boscobel; one son Dennis (Judy) Reiger, of Blue River; two daughters, Donna Faulkner, of Boscobel, and Dianne (Jim) Hazen, of Wauzeka; ten grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; a sister Ruth Kessler, of Onalaska; a brother-in-law Paul Holz, of Freeport, Ill.; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Raymond Reiger; two sisters Shirley Holz and Martha Onstine; two great-grandsons, and a son-in-law Delos Faulkner.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Wauzeka. Pastor Lynn Schreck officiating. Burial in the Wauzeka Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday April 4, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kendall Funeral home in Boscobel, and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
