Ruth M. Meyer, 88, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Friday, March 30, at the Crossing Rivers Health Hospital in Prairie du Chien. 

 

She was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Prairie du Chien the daughter of David and Blanche (Ward) Kielley. She married Roger Meyer on Dec. 24, 1955. Throughout her life Ruth lived in Black River Falls and Janesville, later retiring to her native Prairie du Chien. She owned and operated the Rancho Motel and Antique Shop and enjoyed flea markets. Ruth was feisty, quick witted and loved to play cards. She was a past member of the Sweet Adeline’s. Roger preceded her in death on June 2, 1998. 

 

She is survived by her son Dave Picha, of Black River Falls; her daughters Kim (Tom) Cathman, of Fennimore, and Cindy (Rod) Hamann, of Sioux City, Iowa; a sister-in-law Ruth Kielley, of La Crosse; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son Steven Meyer; a step-daughter Sandra Schmidt; a brother Kern Kielley; and her sisters Inez (Fred) Hill and Bonnie (Fred) Noe.

 

A memorial service will be Tuesday, April 17, at 11 a.m., at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel with inurnment in the Evergreen cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
