The State Highway 27 reconstruction project, from just north of Prairie du Chien through Eastman (April 3-Nov. 21), is about two months in already and seems to be on schedule. The contractor finished roadway grading from Cipra Lane to Irish Ridge Road just prior to Memorial Day, according to project manager Jeremy Krachey. Now it’s on to the next section of grading, which is Radloff Road to Limery Road/Wachuta Road. The current section will take approximately one month to complete.

The Kraemer Company is placing select crushed subgrade improvement and base aggregate from Cipra Lane to Irish Ridge Road to complete the connection at Irish Ridge Road, Krachey said. They will continue to follow the grading contractor as they progress north to Limery Road/Wachuta Road.

Landscaping of the graded slopes began last week and is also progressing from Cipra Lane to Irish Ridge Road.

Local traffic will not be able to access Highway 27 from Radloff Road to Limery Road/Wachuta Road for the next few weeks due to grading operations in that location. Local traffic on the project will be accommodated and provided daily access. Local traffic should use the project in a safe manner and to reduced speeds through the project work zones, Krachey reminded drivers.

Through-traffic wishing to access Highway 27 should continue to use alternate routes.

For answers to questions throughout the project, stop by the construction office across from the Eastman fire station, or contact Krachey at jkrachey@teamenginc.com or (608) 988-7059, or Project Leader Tim Maedke at timothy.maedke@dot.wi.gov or (608) 789-6317.

Work within the village of Eastman won’t begin until July 5. A public information meeting about that portion of the project is scheduled for June and will soon be announced.
