County park violation leads to alcohol, drug charges
On June 14, at about 6:30 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Department was notified of individuals camping at the Wyalusing Beach on County X. A sheriff deputy responded and, upon arrival, several alcohol containers littered the beach near two tents. The deputy made contact with Chance Jones, 21, of Prairie du Chien and a 17-year-old juvenile female in a tent. As the deputy was speaking with them, a marijuana smoking device was visible inside the tent. In the second tent, the deputy made contact with a 14-year-old male and a 17-year-old female. During the investigation, it was discovered the individuals were consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana at the beach.
Jones was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of providing alcohol to minors. Charges were issued on both 17-year-old females for underage drinking and one was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and minor person transporting intoxicants. The 14 year wasn’t charged.
The parents of the minors were contacts and released to responsible parties.
