The Guttenberg Golf Club has a legendary lineup of blues and rock musicians scheduled to perform at an outdoor concert and fireworks show on Saturday, July 14. All ages are welcome to attend the event, which will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The first annual Red, White & Blues Fest will host Bryce Janey Allstar Blues Band with special guests Dan ‘DJ’ Johnson, Tom ‘T-Bone’ Giblin, and Eric Douglas. “These musicians are in the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame and the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame,” say organizers. “They are coming together for a one-time outdoor concert with great food and a major fireworks show at the Guttenberg Golf Club.” The food vendor will be Bootleggers of Millville.

Musician Bryce Janey began his career at the age of 13 in his hometown of Marion, in a family blues-rock trio called The Janeys. He played regionally and nationally from Chicago to Los Angeles, sharing the stage with many Chicago artists and national acts such as Buddy Guy, Delbert McClinton, Blues Traveler, Johnny Winter, and Elvin Bishop. While still with The Janeys, Janey began a solo career and released his first album, Practice What You Preach, in 1995. Since then, he has released many more albums gaining national attention, including a five-star rating from Blues Access magazine, as well as positive reviews from Blues Revue and Living Blues. Janey was inducted into the Iowa Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

Dan ‘DJ’ Johnson is a 2016 Iowa Blues Hall of Fame inductee and a 2007 Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductee with The Blue Band. He appeared on all the Hot Fudge Records Iowa Blues Compilation albums. Johnson has been called the hardest working bass player in Iowa, with more than 7,000 lifetime gigs. He is also a singer, studio musician and songwriter, and has played and recorded with a who’s who of legendary regional musicians such as Ron DeWitte, BillyLee Janey, Dennis McMurrin, Craig Erickson, Bob Dorr, Jeff Petersen, Tom Giblin, Steve Hayes, Robert Johnson, Fred Walk, Sam Salomone and Ernie Peniston.

A 2004 Iowa Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Tom “T-Bone” Giblin has 30 years of experience as a professional musician, playing everything from rock to R&B to blues. He’s been a solid organ and piano sideman to Elvin Bishop, Albert Collins, Jimmy Rogers, Luther Allison, Big Joe Turner, The Dynatones, A.C. Reed, Bryan Lee, Kenny Neal, Andrew ‘B.B.’ Odom, Jimmy Johnson, Lonnie Brooks, Bo Diddley, Otis Rush, Junior Wells, Mary Wells, Koko Taylor, Fenton Robinson, Mighty Joe Young, Carey Bell, Abb Locke and Big Time Sarah.

Eric Douglas has years of experience on drums, playing with smooth beats and sound that make him a local legend. He has played behind some of the top artists in the area.

Event-goers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. For more information, visit the Guttenberg Golf Club on Facebook, call 563-252-1423, or email tpriske@alpinecom.net.
