Drug arrests made
On Aug. 17, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit observed moving and driver’s license violations on a 2001 Ford F-150 and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in Seneca Township.
The driver was identified as Heidi Smith, 43, Winona, Minn., and the passenger as Steven Doonan, 52, Hudson, (Wis.). During the stop, the deputy observed indicators of drug impairment. K-9 Breck was utilized for an open free air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert to the presence of one or more controlled substances inside. A search of the vehicle yielded numerous plastic baggies with several grams of marijuana in each, a plastic bag with white powdery substance, which tested positive for cocaine, and other drug paraphernalia.
Smith was arrested for operating with a restricted controlled substance (second offense) and possession of cocaine. Smith and Doonan were both cited for possession of marijuana.
