Blanche L. Moyle
Blanche L. Moyle, 87, of Dubuque, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 5:53 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Blanche was born on June 23, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Check) Ceplecha. She was born and raised in the beautiful rolling hills of Prairie du Chien. She laid eyes on Elwin Moyle, and knew he was the one. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Elwin, on June 28, 1950, in Prairie du Chien, and they were gratefully blessed with two loving children, Laurie and Tim.
Blanche was a devoted full-time wife, mother and homemaker, who took great pride in not only caring for her home, but mostly in loving and nurturing her family along the way. In their younger years, they enjoyed traveling in their camper with their children and eventually the grandchildren. Blanche was an avid fisher, she liked to out-fish Elwin when it came to trout fishing, and they both put in hundreds of miles over the years foraging for mushrooms, nuts and berries all over eastern Iowa, up until her last few months on earth. When a little downtime would periodically find its way into Blanche’s day, you could easily find her relaxing quietly while working on her latest beautiful quilt, dipping a paint brush on her palette while creating her next masterpiece on the canvas before her or proudly cultivating her garden from seed. She loved her polka music on Wednesday and computer games to “keep her mind sharp.” Blanche was an avid, talented cook; Elwin can be quoted as saying “why go out to eat when I got the best cook at home!”
Blanche was a humble and devoted woman who continually put others before herself and always lived her faith through her actions. She was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Church, and to know that her last family gathering would be held in her church brought Blanche true peace of mind. We will miss our dearly sweet and lovable Blanche with all of our being, but we are beyond grateful for the 87 years the Lord was generous enough to share her with us. We know she is surely enjoying a new and eternal family reunion of her very own loved ones, especially her son, Tim, who were called home ahead of her. Thank you for all of the memories you’ve left behind to help mend our broken hearts Blanche, and may the Lord keep you safe in His loving arms until we meet again.
Those left to cherish Blanche’s memory include her loving husband of 68 years, Elwin Moyle, Dubuque, Iowa; daughter, Laurie (Michael) Primm, Collins, Mo.; grandchildren, Mark (Denise) Moyle, Cheyne (Jennifer) Sharkey, Codi Sharkey, Samantha Moyle, Cody Allan (Brandy) Primm, Amie (Ben) Ivy and Caleb (Jill) Primm; and great-grandchildren, Elwin, Skylee, Caden, Eleigh, Bryson, William, Jude and Grant.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy; two sisters, Marie (Ray) Slama and Gladys (Wincil) Slama; and a brother, Leo Ceplecha.
To honor Blanche’s life, funeral services were Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2921 Central Ave., Dubuque, with Rev. Dwayne J. Thoman officiating. Burial is in Linwood Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.
