On Sunday, Sept. 9, at 7:06 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received a traffic complaint on County Road K near Limery Road in the township of Prairie du Chien. The caller reported that a black car had pulled off the road multiple times and was driving north and south on County K continuously. The caller said that the driver may be intoxicated. It was reported that the vehicle was varying speed and pulled off the road in multiple areas and then back on the roadway again.

Contact was made with the vehicle at County K and Harley Lane. Prairie du Chien police were first on the scene and located the driver of the vehicle parked on the shoulder of the roadway. A Crawford County deputy arrived on scene shortly after and found that Linda B. Hovden, 56, Decorah, Iowa, was operating a 2016 Cadillac. Hovden was attempting to get back to Iowa and got turned around multiple times while attempting to drive.

Hovden showed multiple signs of alcohol impairment. Hovden was placed through the Standardized Field Sobriety Test and was subsequently arrested for ninth offense OWI. Hovden had a pet dog with her that was transported to Southwest Vet. Milo’s towing was contacted to remove the car.

Hovden was transported to the Crawford County Jail.
