Prairie du Chien volleyball hosted the Richland Center Hornets on Tuesday night.

The team fed off of a loud and energetic atmosphere, thanks to a great home crowd,  to finish with a win 3 sets to 2. The scores were 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 17-25, 15-12.

The Blackhawks started out a little slow in the first match and were down 11-3 but picked it up when Karli Myers served 7 points in a row her first time up. Along with some strong hitting by Emily Groom, the Hawks gained back the lead in the first set and never looked back.

In the second game, the team started out stronger and were able to finish the same way taking a 2-0 set lead.

The Hornets didn't give in, winning the next 2 sets, setting up a 5th and final showdown for the win.

Ending the 4th set with some momentum, the Blackhawks continued it into the 5th. In the 5th set, both teams battled hard going point for point until the score was tied at 11-11 before ending the set 15-12.

As a team the Blackhawks had 9 ace serves coming from Brytta Sagedahl with 3, Karli Myers and Caitlin Pattison each with 2 and Emily Groom and Keya Welch each with 1.   Richland Center had no answer for Emily Groom, who had one of her best games yet with 17 kills, followed by Cailtin Pattison with 10, Brytta Sagedahl with 7, Alexis Nolan with 5, Gabby Toberman with 4 and Kylee Weber with 3.
