It was stated at the Prairie du Chien School Board meeting Monday night that due to the increased practice space as part of the school facilities upgrade project, most winter sports practices will be completed by 6 p.m. Also, the gymnastics team will be able to practice in their own school for the first time. Most practices will be for two hours.

In other business, Prairie du Chien Superintendent Robert Smudde said that 88 students have open enrolled into the district while only 30 have open enrolled out. This means that the district will receive approximately $500,000 net from the state, although Smudde said the open enrollment payment per student is not official yet.

In further business, the board approved of Amy West as the assistant orchestra-strings advisor.

Bluff View Principal Aaron Amundson told the board that Bluff View students and staff enjoyed the Heavy Metal Bus Tour put on by the Chamber of Commerce whereby students and staff toured several Prairie du Chien manufacturing companies in order to see what the companies do and what job opportunities there are.

Regarding donations, Dave’s Guitar of La Crosse donated 10 guitars to the high school. Peoples State Bank donated school supplies to BA Kennedy and the Eagles Auxiliary made a financial donation to B.A. Kennedy and Bluff View for students in need.

It was noted by the board that the annual budget meeting will be on Oct. 22, at 5 p.m. in the high school library conference room.
