A 43-year-old Prairie du Chien man was charged on Oct. 5 in Crawford County Circuit Court with one count of physical abuse of a child - intentionally causing bodily harm, and one count of strangulation and suffocation. In the strangulation and suffocation charge, Butters is accused of squeezing a woman’s throat for several seconds. 

Jeremy Butters faces up to $20,000 in fines and 12 years in prison if convicted of both counts.
