Vaping may have caused serious injury to 14-year-old
A River Ridge student was airlifted to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison Tuesday, after he possibly inhaled alcohol through a vape (electronic cigarette) smoking device, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.
On Oct. 23, at 8:46 a.m., the sheriff’s department and West Grant EMS responded to River Ridge High School for a 14-year-old boy with an unknown medical problem.
The sheriff’s department said its initial investigation indicated that the juvenile male may have vaped alcohol through a device, which caused him to suffer symptoms associated with alcohol poisoning. The boy was transported to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien and then airlifted to Madison in serious condition.
This matter remains under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
