Birdie M. Meng
Birdie M. Meng, 98, of Bagley, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the Grant Regional Care Center in Lancaster.
She was born March 3, 1920, in Wyalusing Township, the daughter of Verdie and Amelia (Cathman) Clark. She married Edward Meng on Feb. 24, 1940, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Together, they farmed most of their lives in the Bagley area. Birdie was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Bagley, The Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons, LaVern (Nancy) and Dale (Nancy Reiss), both of Jefferson, and Robert, of Bagley; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Myrna Clark, of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph, Alva, Ora and Harold; her sisters, Thelma, Mabel, Violet and Nina; along with a grandson, Steven.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Pamela Strakeljahn officiated, with burial in the Bagley Cemetery both in Bagley. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the West Grant Rescue Squad or the Bagley First Responders.
