The #6 ranked in the state Prairie du Chien Blackhawks traveled to Bangor on Thursday evening, Dec. 7, for a non-conference meet with West Salem-Bangor. The meet opened up at 285# where Luke Wright would score the opening takedown on a nice slide by. In the second period, Wright would score a reversal into a pinning combination for a fall.
At 106#, Nick Mara received a forfeit. At 113#, highly-ranked Matt Rogge scored a couple of nice takedowns, one with a leg sweep single. He also had a couple of pinning combinations, one with an outside cradle, en route to a 10-2 major decision.
At 120#, Chase Fisher was decisioned 8-0. At 126#, Chase Watson ran into a ranked opponent and lost by fall. At 132#, Keenan Holley and his opponent had the gym roaring with a barrage of back and forth cradles before Holley’s third period fritz takedown would gain him an 8-7 victory.
At 138#, two ranked opponents locked horns, but WSB’s wrestler would gain the upper hand with a fall over Reid Koenig. PDC would forfeit at 145#. At 152#, the Blackhawks’ highly-ranked Traeton Saint would quickly dispose of his opponent with a 0:17 fall.
At 160#, ranked Saint brother two, Bradyn, would secure three takedowns and a couple of near fall points on his way to a 9-1 major decision. At 170#, Isaac Avery would battle back from a 4-1 first period deficit to score a reversal and a tight butcher for a second period fall. At 182# ,Tyler Smock, also ranked, would score a first period takedown and work his opponent to his back for a first period fall. At 195#, Zach Swiggum lost by fall. At 220#, Grant Martin, after a couple of takedowns, would turn his opponent and pin him in the second period.
