Local man accused of physical abuse of child

A 42-year-old Prairie du Chien man has been charged in Crawford County Circuit Court with one count of the physical abuse of a child - recklessly causing bodily harm by conduct which creates a high probability of great bodily harm.

Claudiu Burja faces up to a $10,000 fine and six years of imprisonment if convicted. 

According to the criminal complaint, Burja is accused of grabbing an 8-year-old boy around the neck and squeezing for approximately one to one and a half minutes.
