Adam Hady

by Ted Pennekamp

There is a new agriculture agent at Crawford County’s University of Wisconsin Extension. Adam Hady began his duties on Jan. 1 and will be in Crawford County 50 percent of the time and in Richland County 50 percent.

Adam said he will be in Crawford County on Thursdays and Fridays, and in Richland County on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There will also be flex Mondays. Adam has been with Richland County since 2004.

“I work in agriculture education and outreach education,” said Adam. “I am also getting to understand what the needs of Crawford County are.”

Adam said most of his major programming so far has been in the areas of dairy/ livestock production, land ownership and non-traditional agricultural producers such as non-resident “lifestyle” farmers. Adam also has worked statewide on swine programming and quality assurance programs such as Pork Quality Assurance Plus, Transporter Quality Assurance and Beef Quality Assurance.

“I might be adding new or different programs in the future,” said Adam. “I will also be meeting with farmers, community partners and other agencies in conducting a needs evaluation. I’m getting to know the area. We have a program about dairy revenue protection coming up on Jan. 22 in Gays Mills.”

Adam has a bachelor’s degree in animal science from UW-River Falls and a master’s in adult education from UW-Platteville.

Adam, his wife Christine, and four children live outside of Boaz in Richland County, and have a small acreage where they raise poultry and some sheep.

“My kids are part of the North Clayton Cardinals 4-H Club and have been exhibiting at the Crawford County Fair, so people at this year’s fair might recognize me,” said Adam.

Adam can be reached by stopping at the Crawford County UW-Extension Office at 225 North Beaumont Road, Suite 240, Prairie du Chien, by calling (608) 326-0223, or by email at adam.hady@ces.uwex.edu.

Adam said he is pleased to be able to serve Crawford County with educational programing and resources to Crawford County’s agricultural community.
