Hornets pull away from Indians
Wauzeka-Steuben steadily pulled away from host Seneca to win a Ridge and Valley boys basketball game, 68-50, Thursday night.
Wauzeka-Steuben scored on a lay-up just before the halftime buzzer to take a 33-21 lead. Wauzeka-Steuben outscored Seneca 35-29 in the second half.
Carter Lomas poured in a game-high 24 points to pace the Hornets. Jake Reichmann netted 20 and Gavin Ralph scored 13.
Jared Payne pumped in 21 points for the Indians. Ashton Swanson scored 10 and Nathan Klema added 10.
The Hornets increased their record to 13-1 overall and 9-0 in the Ridge and Valley with the victory before a packed house.
Seneca dropped to 6-4 on the season and 5-4 in conference action.
Wauzeka-Steuben will next host Kickapoo on Jan. 25.
Seneca will next host Lansing Kee on Jan. 21.
