Zelma L. Moore, 93, of McGregor, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Zelma Louene “Percie” Moore, the daughter of Percy Roy and Zelma Marie (Huber) Freeman, was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Norwood, Ohio.  

She was baptized and confirmed on March 24, 1940, at the Congregational Church in McGregor. She graduated from McGregor High School in 1943 and was the co-valedictorian of her class. Percie was united in marriage with Kenneth James Moore on July 13, 1946, at the Congregational Church in McGregor. Percie worked as an usher at the McGregor Theater, was a telephone operator, worked at Vick’s Grocery Store, was an office manager at Brooks-Teaser Insurance and worked at Star Milk Coolers.  

Percie was active in the Congregational Church in McGregor and the Congregational Women’s Fellowship. She was a music booster and a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed R.V. camping with her husband, Kenneth, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Kenneth and Percie spent their winters in Mission, Texas, after retirement. They also enjoyed summer vacations with the family, holiday dinners, spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They would also take motor home sporting trips with their daughter and son-in-law.

Percie is survived by her daughters, Sandra Richardson of Nevada and Linda (Tom) Luber of McGregor; five grandchildren, Paul Minchk of Strawberry Point, Jeff Minchk of Iowa, Brad Luber of Baraboo, Laura (James) Reetz of Columbus and Andrea De Lara of Des Moines; seven great-grandchildren, Nichole Minchk, Anna Minchk, Clara Reetz, Ian Reetz, Max Reetz, Macy Reetz and Aria De Lara.

Percie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Percy and Zelma Freeman; a son-in-law, Gene Richardson; two sisters, Mary Schaefer and Charlotte Harlow; a sister-in-law, Irene Moore; a brother-in-law, Keith Moore; and other relatives and friends.

Honorary casket bearers will be Tom Luber, Paul Minchk, Jeff Minchk, Brad Luber, Laura Reetz, James Reetz and Andrea De Lara. A graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Services of McGregor is assisting the family with arrangements.
