Second seeded Platteville defeated top seeded Prairie du Chien 48-39 in a WIAA Division 3 Sectional semifinal at Madison Edgewood Thursday night.

The Lady Blackhawks’ season came to an end, but it was a very good season as Prairie du Chien won the outright conference championship with a 9-1 record over Platteville, who had an 8-2 mark. Prairie du Chien was also regional champions and they finished the season at 20-2.

Platteville went ahead 25-15 at the half Thursday night. Prairie took the second half, 24-23.

Platteville improved to 20-4 on the season and advanced to the Elkhorn Sectional final.

“We had a great run by a great group of girls who all were all about the team,” said Prairie Coach Paula Shedivy. “Thank you to our only senior Gabby Ritchie. We wish the best of luck next year at Minnesota State Moorhead. The support from the community was fantastic throughout the year. We appreciate how many people would travel to watch the girls play.”
