On Feb. 27, a Crawford County deputy initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 Ford Windstar van for equipment violations on Highway 35 in the village of Ferryville.

The deputy identified the driver as Nathaniel Olson, 35, La Crosse, and his passenger as Jennifer Carillo, 36, La Crosse. While speaking to the driver, the deputy observed in plain view several used hypodermic needles and also smelled the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from within the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and numerous used hypodermic needles containing suspected methamphetamine residue, over a dozen clear plastic bags containing suspected methamphetamine residue and a digital scale were located within the vehicle. Marijuana paraphernalia was also located within the vehicle.

Olson is on bond for charges out of La Crosse County and was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor bail jumping. Carillo was released without charges. Assisting at the scene was Bob’s Towing.
