Alo Elaine Keehner, 94, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg.

Visitation was Saturday, March 2, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Funeral services were private.

Alo was born July 8, 1924, to Howard and Icie Borrett in Mallory Township of Clayton County, where she spent most of her childhood in Osterdock. Alo graduated from Guttenberg High School and attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. After that, she worked as a bookkeeper for Kann Manufacturing in Guttenberg for a short while.

On Sept. 15, 1944, Alo married Warren Keehner. Together they raised three children. As a mother she spent time helping with the local Girl Scout and Brownie troops, and was also active in St. John’s Lutheran Church for many years. Alo and Warren enjoyed traveling, whether it was short trips in Iowa or trips throughout the United States and internationally. She will be remembered as a kind, caring, and loving person who often put others ahead of herself.

Left to cherish memories of her are her children, Tanya (Merrill) Hyde, Lonnie Keehner, and Pamela (Paul) Martin; grandchildren, Kimberly (Curtis) Harrison, Kent Hyde, Kamber (Chris) Reichling, Wyatt (Sharie) Keehner, Jason (Leigh) Martin, Jamie (Cameron) Green and Jessica (Pete) Koenig; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Howard Borrett Jr. of New York, N.Y., Curtis Borrett of Savannah, Ga., Douglas (Madeline) of Manchester, Dennis (Becky) of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Denise Borrett of Jesup; and many nieces and nephews.

Alo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Geraldine Moser; a brother-in-law, Ivan Moser; and a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Borrett.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for a Memorial Fund that has been established in Alo's name.
