Dorothy W. Steinbach, 88, of Wauzeka, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at the Boscobel Care and Rehab Center in Boscobel. 

She was born on Feb. 8, 1931, in Boscobel, the daughter of Bernard and Clara (Smith) Karnopp. Dorothy married Lyndon Steinbach in 1952, in Gays Mills. Together, they farmed for many years in the Gays Mills area. Lyndon preceded her in death in 1982. 

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Steinbach of Prairie du Chien, and Marlene Steinbach of La Crosse; brothers, Raymond (Dixie) Karnopp of Lancaster, Robert (Sandy) Karnopp of Arkansas, Larry (Delores) Karnopp of Mt. Zion; sisters-in-law Jackie Karnopp of Barnum, and Marge Nauman of Dubuque, Iowa; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Lynn Steinbach, a daughter Karen Burgus and a brother Edward Karnopp.

According to Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A private family interment will be in the Gays Mills Cemetery at a later date. The Garrity Funeral Home is assisting the family.
