Paulette Joan “P.J.” Holliday, 70, of Prairie du Chien, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019, at Crossing Rivers Health after a long and courageous battle with many health conditions, including congestive heart failure and kidney disease.

Paulette was born in Madison, on April 3, 1949, to James and Delores (Kaiser) Baures.  Paulette married Rodney Stussy in 1967 and together they had a daughter, Joan. Rodney passed away in 1974. Paulette later married Wilford Holliday in 1976 and together they had a son, Wilford Holliday Jr. in 1977, who passed away at 11 weeks old. They went on to have two more children, a daughter Misty and a son James. Paulette and Wilford later divorced.

Paulette had various different jobs throughout her life, with her first being at Northern Engraving. She worked at a number of factories over the years including Advance Transformer and 3M. Paulette went to college at SWTC in Fennimore and earned an Accounting degree. The knowledge gained there would eventually lead her to proudly managing several different convenience stores in Florida, Iowa and Illinois. She also loved doing taxes and became the family’s official “tax lady.” Paulette loved her family deeply and always looked forward to the next family get-together.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family and would do so every opportunity she could.  Whether it be holidays, reunions or weddings, it was customary to ask Paulette to make some of her delicious recipes. Paulette also enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards with her grandchildren and watching the Green Bay Packers games. Paulette took on the role of being the “family glue” proudly. She was the type of person that everyone knew they could call if there ever was a problem. If she couldn’t fix the problem herself, she would reach out to the family until we were able to help whoever needed it at the time. Paulette was a strong beacon of light and love for us all and she will be dearly missed.

Paulette is survived by her daughters Joan (Kerry) Bunts of Prairie du Chien and Misty Holliday (Andy Ruegg) of Blue River; a son James (Jesse) Holliday of Prairie du Chien; 10 grandchildren: Alisha, Katrina, Jeff, Brittany, Blake, Logan, Braden, Keegan, Adalyn and Jaelyn; seven great-grandchildren: Lily, Kaydance, Jayce, Jaxsyn, Owen, Nina and Maddox; her brothers: James (Vicki) Baures, Ken (Ruth) Baures, Joe (Sandy) Baures, John (Becky) Baures and Mike (Shannon) Baures; her sisters: Ann Lessard, Patricia Heal, Kathy (Rick) Fradette and Linda (Dennis) Bunts; her many beloved nieces and nephews, friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Will Holliday Jr.; brother Tom Baures; brothers-in-law, Tom (Buck) Lessard and Ron Heal; godson Dennis Bunts Jr.; nephew Brian Baures; great-niece Amberly Koch; and special friend Wanda Brazier.

Funeral services will be Thursday April 11, at 1 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Pastor Nile Sandeen will officiate. Friends may call on the family during a Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. also at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Gays Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred.
