PdC track team hosts Prairie Relays

The Prairie du Chien track and field team hosted the 66th Annual Prairie Relays Monday afternoon. Thirteen schools participated in the meet.

For the Prairie girls, Meg Katzung was hitting on all cylinders with two big PR’s in the triple jump 31’4” and 6th place, while taking 7th place in pole vault with a 7’0”. Kori Jaynes picked up a 6th place and Hope Martin picked up a 7th in the 100m. Ella Hager picked up an 11th in the 400m while Amber Huser ran her way to a 6th place in the 1600m. 

Karly Jaynes just missed a PR in the 800m but did pick up a 1st place finish with a 2:30.56. Hailie Meyers also took 21st place in the 800m on the evening. Jaydn Jenks finished her 1600m in 23rd place and Lindsey Nicholson hit a 28’10” in the triple jump for 12th place as well as a 12th place in the 100 high hurdles.  

Faith Dillman picked up a 9th place in the 100 high hurdles and a huge 2nd place in the 300 hurdles. Nicole Rickleff also picked up a 20th place in the 100 high hurdles. 

Madeline LaRocque ran a nice race in the 300 hurdles and picked up 7th place, followed closely by Paige Schneider with 10th place. In the high jump, Hope Martin picked up 9th place, Paige Schneider 16th place, and Clare Teynor 20th place. Hope Martin also picked up a 6th place in the long jump, Madeline LaRocque 11th place and Alexis Nolan followed with a 16th place. 

Gabby Ritchie picked up a 1st place in the shot put and 7th place in the discus. Clare Teynor picked up 24th in shot followed by Eva Keene with 27th place. Eva also picked up 19th in discus and Lydia Seeley snuck in at 38th place. 

A big challenge was put out to the throwers to beat any 4x100 relay team. At the end of the night, they did beat a team and hence they (Teynor, Keene, Rickleff, Ritchie) earned themselves pizza from the coach. They stepped up big with a new season PR- 59.99. Also stepping up big was the 4x200 relay team (LaRocque, Nolan, Nicholson, Ko. Jaynes) by knocking out a new season PR- 2:04.16 as well. The 4x400 relay team (Katzung, Schneider, Hager, Ka. Jaynes) finished in 7th to pick up team points with a 2:47.43. Finally, the 800m sprint medley team (Ritchie, Nolan, Nicholson, Ko. Jaynes) snagged points with an 8th place finish with 2:13.01.

For the boys, Spencer DeHart hammered out a new PR- 5:47.11 in the 1600m and 24th place. Max Anthony also ran himself to a 23rd place in the 1600m. Preston Hendrix picked up 8th place in the 100m with a 12.71. Ryan Drinkwine picked up 27th place and Lee Steiger hit a PR in the 100m with a 14.77. In the 400m, Joey Gourdin picked up 20th and Thomas O’Brien picked up 22nd place.  

Ben Teynor had a nice night as he picked up 4th place in the 110 high hurdles, 3rd in the 300 hurdles and 5th in long jump. Jonah Hornseth picked up 19th in the 110 hurdles and 8th in the high jump. The 4x400 relay team (Anthony, Steiger, Nettesheim, DeHart) picked up 10th place on the evening and the 800 sprint medley (Gonzalez, Wall, Nettesheim, Hendrix) also picked up a 10th place. 

Ryan Wall snagged a 12th place in pole vault and 14th in discus with a new PR - 100’2”. Hunter Nettesheim picked up 22nd place in the long jump and Logan Nettesheim picked up 30th in the long jump. Jayden Johnson had a monster night with a PR- 36’10” in the shot put and 12th place. Jayden also hit a PR- 91’3” in the discus for 24th place. Jerrod Osterkamp picked up 24th in the shot put while Ray Slawinski nailed down a new PR- 32’9” in the shot put as well as 32nd place in the discus.
