Head-on crash results in non-life threatening injuries
On May 5, at 4:30 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received multiple reports of a two-vehicle head-on traffic crash near the intersection of County D and Highway 35 in the township of Eastman.
Donald Creque III, 40, De Soto, was operating a 2003 Dodge Dakota northbound on Highway 35. A 2009 Chrysler Town and Country van being operated by David Konkel, 66, Prairie du Chien, was southbound on Highway 35. As the two vehicles approached each other, the Konkel vehicle completely crossed the yellow center divider line and struck the Creque vehicle head-on.
Severe weather was moving through the area at the time of the collision, and is believed to have played a significant role in the cause of the crash. Visibility was extremely poor due to heavy rain, wind and hail. Both Creque and Konkel sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the crash and were transported to Crossing Rivers Health. Assisting at the scene were the Prairie du Chien Police Department, Eastman Fire Department and First Responders, Tri State Ambulance and Milo’s Towing.
