Allen Cyril Leliefeld, 82, of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Friday, May 17, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Inurnment will be at a later date.

Allen was born on Oct. 26, 1936, the only child of Albert “Riley” and Helen (Herman) Leliefeld. 

Allen graduated from the St. Mary’s Catholic High School and on June 1, 1963, Al was united in marriage with Shirley Hinzman at St. Mary’s Church in Guttenberg. Allen worked for John Deere in Dubuque for 33 years until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for three years. 

Those left to cherish his memory are Allen’s wife of 55 years, Shirley; daughter, Sandy (Jeff) Ashline; five grandchildren, Nick and Stephanie Ashline, Truman, Sophie and Charlie Cherne and many friends. 

Allen was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Christine Cherne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and may be sent to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Mary’s Catholic School, 510 S. Second St., Guttenberg, IA 52052.
