Phyllis Ann (McGuire) Reinitz, 96, of Elon, N.C. (formerly Guttenberg) passed away peacefully Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Edgewood Place, Burlington, N.C.

Cremation will be in North Carolina with burial in Guttenberg at a later date.

Phyllis was born on April 8, 1923, in Garber, daughter of Leon F. and Valeria M. (Link) McGuire. She received her education at St. Mary’s School in Guttenberg. Phyllis was united in marriage to Burnell L. Reinitz on Jan. 28, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Guttenberg. 

She was a faithful church member, active in church activities and ladies aid, and was always ready to help with volunteer work. Phyllis worked in several varied businesses before her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, playing cards and dominos and being with her family and friends. Phyllis loved to entertain, no one left her house without a smile on their face.

Phyllis was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed. She was also adored by her grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Survivors include one son, Gary (Terry) of Sharps Chapel, Tenn.; one daughter, Mary (Vernon) Rodenberg of Gibsonville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Cody (Jenny) Reinitz, Zachary (Letetia) Reinitz, Brett (Jennifer) Rodenberg, Nickolas (Michelle) Rodenberg; five great-grandsons, Ethan Reinitz, William Reinitz, Nate Reinitz, Alexander Reinitz, Charles Rodenberg; six great-granddaughters, Isabel Reinitz, Madeline Reinitz, Ava Reinitz, Gianna Reinitz; Vivian Rodenberg, Victoria Rodenberg; two brothers, Gerald McGuire of Fishers, Ind., and James (Evelyn) McGuire of Guttenberg; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother- and sister-in-law, Russell and Ione Reinitz; sister-in-law, Rita Mae McGuire; aunt and uncle, Marie and Albert Bieber.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and may be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 819, 203 Pearl St, Guttenberg, IA 52052.
