Gerald A. “Jerry” Rauch, 92, of Prairie du Chien, and formerly of Glen Haven, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, with his daughters by his side at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. 

He was born on July 22, 1926, in Glen Haven, the son of Matthew and Anna (Hochhausen) Rauch. Jerry attended the Glen Haven Catholic School and went on to serve his county during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952, as part of the 45th Infantry Division.  He was married to Dolores Busher on Sept. 17, 1953, and they enjoyed 53 years together before her passing in 2005. Jerry worked for Walz Feed Mill for a number of years before being employed as a tool and die maker at Rapid Die and Molding in Cassville for 30 years. He was an active member of the community and belonged to the Glen Haven Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years; serving as fire chief for 25 of those years. Jerry was also a faithful member of the St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Glen Haven.

Jerry is survived by his daughters: Karen (Roger) Lindh and Patti (Mike) Bailey; two granddaughters: Staci (Nick) Brown and Annie (Ryan) Minor; two great-grandchildren: Vivian Brown and Bennett Minor; a brother, Edward (Kay) Rauch; sisters-in-law, Virginia and Arlene Rauch; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Dolores, Jerry was preceded in death by a grandson, Ben Bailey in 1997; and his siblings, Irene Menne, Jeanette Rieser, and Vincent, James, Francis, Edmund, Richard and Joesph Rauch. 

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Jerry’s life with a Fireman’s Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Friends and family may call on Monday, July 1, at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Glen Haven from 10 a.m. until the time of service. 

In lieu of plants and flowers, a Gerald A. “Jerry” Rauch Memorial Fund has been established with proceeds going to the Glen Haven Fire Department. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Bloomington is entrusted with his services.
