Wayne David Guyer, 72, husband of Lynn, passed away on July 9, 2019, at his home in the country near Terrytown, Ga.

Wayne was born on Oct. 12, 1946, to Lawrence and Verda Mae (Kregel) Guyer. He grew up on a farm one mile west of Garnavillo with his two brothers and three sisters, doing chores, helping with milking, and spending free time with his best friend Allen Wright. He graduated from Garnavillo High school in 1964 and shortly after enlisted in the US Air Force. Wayne spent a year in the Vietnam War Theater, loading aircraft bombers with Agent Orange, from which he later contracted luekemia. After his service time, he married JeanAnne Lackey in Savannah, Ga., a sweetheart he met at his last military outpost. To this union were born two children, James Andrew, currently of Honolulu, Hawaii, is a retired Navy Submariner, and daughter Melissa, an R.N., and her three children live in the Savannah area. Wayne worked for many years as a deputy sheriff; owned a landscaping business; and was an accomplished carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lynn; as well as Andy and Missy; step-daughter, Christy and his grandchildren. Surviving siblings are, Janet (Joel) Portman of Cedar Rapids, Lorna (Bob)Schwartz of Centerton, Ark., Roger (Susan) Guyer of Garnavillo, Eunice (Randy) Sluiter of Allison; and L. Lynn (Lisa) Guyer of Guttenberg.

He was welcomed to heaven by his parents; grandparents; aunts; uncles and leaves to mourn those who knew him best and keep his memory forever in their hearts as Wayne believed.
