Area man charged with growing, selling marijuana
A 56-year-old Soldiers Grove man has been charged in Crawford County Circuit Court with one count of the manufacture of marijuana (between 1,000 and 2,500 grams).
Larry Waters faces up to 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines if convicted. According to the criminal complaint, officers found a green house in the middle of an open ridge top field on Waters’ property in the town of Clayton.
Officers saw numerous items of contraband inside the green house, including 12 growing plants believed to be marijuana. The officers seized the 12 plants and the other items. The plants tested positive for THC. Waters was interviewed by officers and admitted to growing the marijuana, but he denied ever selling any, despite the fact a digital scale was found in Waters’ truck, the complaint said.
