The Clayton Ridge Community School board met in regular session on Sept. 12 at the high school library in Guttenberg.

President John Heying and board members Michael Finnegan, Kathy Ihde, Ellen Johnson, Christine Aulwes and Jason Reimer were on hand, along with Superintendent Shane Wahls, Principal Laura Bilden, board secretary Dave Schlueter, Dean of Students Wade Marlow, school nurse Renae Kraus and Jim Pfaffly.

The board approved a contract with Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics for athletic trainer services. 

The board hired Leanne Walke as a teacher associate and Rusty Meyer as an assistant wrestling coach. 

An open enrollment request was approved for Gannon Fritz from Clayton Ridge to MFL Mar-Mac. The board denied 128 open enrollment applications to attend the Iowa Virtual Academy. 

The date of parent-teacher conferences was changed to Oct. 14 and 16 and the teacher comp day to Oct. 18. 

The board heard reports from Superintendent Wahls and Principal Bilden. Discussion was held on the Drive 4UR School fundraiser, student athletic passes, shared classes with Central, the timing of results from last spring's testing and a dust collector for industrial tech.

At a work session held prior to the meeting, Harry Heiligenthal and Mona Nelson of the Iowa Association of School Board were on hand as members reviewed the district's mission statement and belief statement and discussed goals.  -- From meeting minutes by Dave Schlueter, edited by Shelia Tomkins
