Shirley A. Domeyer
Shirley A. Domeyer, 83, of rural Holy Cross passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque.
Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 20, at Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross. Visitation continued at the funeral home Monday morning prior to funeral services.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 21, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross, conducted by Rev. Phil Kruse.
Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
Shirley was born March 3, 1936, in Holy Cross the daughter of Alphonse and Anastasia (Jaeger) Stillmunkes. She married John “Jack” Domeyer on June 3, 1958, in Holy Cross. Together they farmed near Holy Cross.
Shirley enjoyed playing Euchre with her card club, playing Rummy with her grandchildren, and Solitaire to pass the time. She and Jack enjoyed their Country Dance Group, and Shirley continued to carry the torch for the St. Louis Cardinals after her son, Carl, passed away. She also enjoyed watching the birds outside of her window, crafting, quilting, her gardens and cake making.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jack; five children, Terry (Kim) Domeyer of Guttenberg, Dale (Jody), James, Jeff (Melissa), and Ted Domeyer, all of Holy Cross, daughter-in-law, Karen Domeyer of Manchester; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Sharon) Stillmunkes of Ankeny; in-laws, Laverne “Bud” Domeyer of Petersburg, Mary Lou Gravel and Rita Domeyer, both of Dyersville, Doris Burlage of Monticello and Peter (Clarice) Domeyer of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Andy and Frances Domeyer; one son, Carl Domeyer in 2009; in-laws, William Domeyer, Daniel (Virginette) Domeyer, Donald “Gomer” Domeyer, Milton (Marie) Domeyer, Paul (Diane) Domeyer, Ellen Domeyer, Loras Gravel, Roland (Terese) Domeyer, James (LaVon) Domeyer and John Burlage.
