Two area runners advance to State Cross Country Meet

Two area cross country runners have each earned a trip to the State Cross Country Meet in Wisconsin Rapids on Nov. 2.

Meg Katzung of Prairie du  Chien finished in fifth place at the Spring Green Golf Course Saturday morning in a Division 2 Sectional. Katzung had a time of 20:06.

The top five individual finishers at sectionals advance to the state meet.

 

"Congratulations to Meg Katzung on her big day as she qualified for state for the third year in a row," said Prairie du Chien Coach Mike Liddell.

Some of Meg’s highlights this season include:

Dodgepoint Dual - 1st place

Darlington Invite - 12th place

River Valley Dual - 3rd place

Mt. Horeb Invite - 3rd place

River Valley Invite - 8th place

Westby Invite - 4th place

Reedsburg Invite - 3rd place

Platteville Invite - 7th place

Prairie du Chien Invite - 2nd place

Albany Invite - 3rd place

Conference - 5th place (First Team All-Conference)

Sectionals - 5th place (State Qualifier).

Jacob Reichmann of Wauzeka-Steuben finished fourth Saturday morning in the Division 3 Boscobel Sectional in a time of 17:05.2 to advance to the state meet. Reichmann, a senior, earned a trip to the State Cross Country Meet for the third consecutive year.

“Jake will be the measuring stick that all Wauzeka-Steuben runners measure themselves against for some time to come,” said Wauzeka-Steuben Coach Ben Dums. “He has trimmed his school record time down to 17:05.2, and has been a great role model and teammate for everyone over the course of his career.  His great work ethic and self-motivation has made coaching him seem easy. His team and community are all very proud of him and wish him luck in his final race at state this Saturday.”

The Wauzeka-Steuben boys’ team finished sixth out of 17 teams at the sectional. The top two teams advance to the state meet.

In addition to Reichmann, Zach Martin of Wauzeka-Steuben was 40th in a time of 18:53.2. Reed Stenner was 47th in 19:11.6. Christopher Reising was 52nd in 19:17.4. Isaac Reichmann was 53rd in 19:19.2. Jonah Reichmann was 63rd in 19:46.8. Nate Martin was 82nd in 20:38.9.

The River Ridge boys took 10th. Brad Hoffman finished 21st in 18:20.8. Brett Kerscher was 23rd in 18:23.8. Zach Zimmer was 50th in 19:15.7. Sam White was 75th in 20:15.8. Kyle Adrian was 76th in 20:19.8. Bryly Clark was 79th in 20:31.0. Ryan West was 87th in 20:54.5.

Al Rewey of Seneca finished in 116th in 23:08.1. Kolton Chambers of Seneca was 126th in 26:31.3.

In the girls’ Boscobel Sectional, River Ridge finished seventh. Faith Webb was 28th in 22:16.0. Tova Lindberg was 30th in 22:25.8. Riley Klein was 40th in 22:51.4. Jessica Patterson was 46th in 23:16.0. Allison West was 86th in 27:47.2.

Seneca ran as an incomplete team. Maxine Grover finished 32nd in 22:15.1. Taylor Snyder was 87th in 26:22.8.

Wauzeka-Steuben also ran as an incomplete team. Lizzie Udelhoven was 82nd in 25:21.3. Maureen Cooley was 92nd in 26:49.1. Regan Kramer was 108th in 28:34.2. Grace Zinkle was 120th in 33:32.5.
