Prairie school tax rate remains $10.66

At its annual budget hearing on Monday evening, the Prairie du Chien School Board approved of a 2019-2020 budget with a total property tax levy of $5,958.203. The levy for 2018-2019 was $5,746,975.

The tax rate for school purposes for the Prairie du Chien Area School District remains at $10.66. The tax rate has been $10.66 for several years in a row.

The total property valuation in the district is $558,930,868. The valuation last year was $539,110,509.

A tax rate of $10.66 means that the owner of a property valued at $150,000 will pay $1,599 in property taxes for school purposes.
