A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Faye Marie Tesar, 78, of Prairie du Chien, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at home surrounded by family. 

She was born June 13, 1941, in Prairie du Chien, daughter of Joseph and Esther (Tippery) Pitzer. 

She married the love of her life, Frank Michael Tesar, on Jan. 23, 1960, in Prairie du Chien. Faye loved fishing, gardening, baking and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed a good cup of coffee while conversing with others and reminiscing stories and memories of the Fourth Ward.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank; and their six children, Diane (Greg) Steger, Michael Tesar, Rebecca (Mark Johnson) Tesar, Kim (Dean) Zimmerman, Scott Tesar and Patrick Tesar; her brothers and sister, Leonard (Mickey) Pitzer, Helen Wilterdink, Jim (Yvonne) Pitzer; brothers-in-law Lloyd Biederman and Samuel (Carolyn) Tesar; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Esther Pitzer; her brother, Joseph Pitzer; sisters, Charlotte May Pitzer, Esther Biederman and Joanne (Richard) Sheckler; a brother-in-law, Richard Wilterdink; a nephew, Terry Sheckler; and a grandson, Jonathan Steger. 

According to Faye’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A family celebration of her life is being planned for a future date. 

The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
