James “Jim” McCabe, 51, of Red Wing, Minn., died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at the Bayview Nursing Home in Red Wing. 

He was born Oct. 11, 1968, in Beloit, to James Leslie and Susan Elizabeth (Mazanet) McCabe. In 1986, he graduated from West Grant High School and then went on to attend the University of Wisconsin in Platteville for two years. In 1989, he married Pam Prochaska and they had a son, James Jr. They later divorced. He worked at various grocery stores and most recently at Duluth Trading Company. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and searching for morel mushrooms. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan, and really enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dog Bo.

He is survived by his son, James Jr. of Maiden Rock; sister, Tami (Justin) Billeter of Ellsworth; two nieces, Ava and Isabel Billeter; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Susan; maternal grandparents, John and Marian Mazanet; paternal grandparents, James and Velma McCabe; uncle, Jim Mazanet; and cousin, Jennifer McCabe. 

The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, in Red Wing, Minn., with Deacon Pat Evans officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth. Online condolences may be sent to www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
