All Prairie du Chien area employers are invited to a community conversation with the Prairie du Chien School District about student employment. The conversation will happen over breakfast on Monday, Dec. 16, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the upstairs conference room at Prairie du Chien City Hall.

The purpose of this event is to provide employers with information about hiring students with special needs.

RSVPs are requested by Friday, Dec. 6, to Cathy Reed, special education director at Prairie du Chien Schools, 326-3742 or reedca@pdc.k12.wi.us.

Over the past several years, the school district has been privileged to place multiple students in various employment settings locally. Some of these placements have remained even after the students have graduated. Some are still in place after several years.

At this community conversation, participants will hear, first-hand, from students how employment opportunities impact their futures. This is an opportunity for education and employment professionals to discuss services that can be provided while talking through any concerns or reservations employers may have. Those attending can chat with other area employers about their experiences in hiring and working with students with special needs.

The school district’s hope is to open more doors and varied opportunities for students so they can gain valuable work experiences that will last a lifetime.

Breakfast on Dec. 16 will be provided by Hardee’s and include coffee, juice, eggs, bacon, toast, biscuits and hashbrowns.
