A 19-year-old Prairie du Chien man was sentenced Dec. 3 to 15 years in prison for his role in the beating death of a Decorah, Iowa man.

Dalton Adam was convicted on Nov. 4 of voluntary manslaughter in a Chickasaw County, Iowa court, where his trial had been moved to. Adam had been charged with first degree murder, but the jury convicted him of the lesser crime. 

Adam and his friend Jacob Seelinger were charged after the July 2018 attack on David Hansen, 46, outside of Hansen’s Decorah home. Seelinger was convicted of second degree murder and was sentenced to up to 50 years in prison.

Hansen had been dating Seelinger’s mother.
