Mary Louise “Lou” (Weighner) Dretzka, 91, formerly of Prairie du Chien, Cudahy and South Milwaukee, passed away at her home in Greenfield.

She was born in 1928, in Prairie du Chien, to Wilbur and Anna (Zweifel) Weighner. She married Kenneth M. Dretzka, Sr. in 1954, and the two were together until his death in 1998.

Lou attended Mount Mary and Cardinal Stritch colleges, earning a degree in elementary education. She went on to teach kindergarten in Richland Center, Plymouth and Cudahy and later again at St. Sylvester and APL schools in South Milwaukee. An avid reader, she also loved to play bridge, do jigsaw puzzles, go to rummage sales and antique stores and travel. Lou was a proud member of the Cudahy Historical Society, helping to preserve the historic Cudahy Train Depot.

Lou and Kenneth raised six children, Ken Jr. (Pat) of Milwaukee, Ellen (Jay) Anderson of Naperville, Ill., Neil (Jennifer) of Richfield, the late Matt (Jennifer) of Northglenn, Colo., Andy (Amy) of New Berlin, and Phil (Lizabeth) of Woodbury, Minn. She was a devoted Nana of 10 grandchildren: Rachael, Alex, Ally, Dani, Ricki, Fiona, Ian, Emma, Ethan and Sophia, and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Lou was preceded in death by her brother, Phil Weighner (Katie and Joan); sister, Doris (Sterlie) Rybarczyk; brothers-in-law, Hubert (Violet), Roland (Jill and Elaine) and Jerry Dretzka; sisters-in-law, Marianne (Jim) Cherrie, Lenore (Nick) Dretzka-Fluyeras; and in-laws Jerome and Elynor Dretzka.
