Frederick Walter Jenkins, 75, of Guttenberg, formerly of Garber, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019.

Visitation was Friday, Dec. 27, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg. 

Graveside services followed the visitation at the Monona City Cemetery.

Fred was born on April 21, 1944, the son of Delbert and Lillian Jenkins. 

Fred graduated from MFL and over the years he operated heavy equipment for Rodenberg’s, Riley’s and later he worked for Clayton County as a maintenance worker. He was united in marriage with Veronica Clefisch on his birthday in Harmony, Minn. many years ago and this union blessed the couple with a daughter, Charlene. 

Fred enjoyed music, especially Old Country and Bluegrass. He began playing as a young child, selling his clarinet to buy his first guitar. Fred played guitar, mandolin, bass and banjo, which was his favorite. He spent many weekends during the summer and fall traveling to Bluegrass Festivals in Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri. Fred was a member of the Backbone Bluegrass Festival Committee near Strawberry Point for over 30 years. He was also a founding member of the Strawberry Pickers Bluegrass Band. Fred also played with many other bands over the years.

Fred will be forever loved and cherished by his wife Veronica; daughter, Charlene Jenkins; sister, Lynn Jenkins and many friends.
