The Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce annual banquet and membership meeting will be Monday, Jan. 20, at the Guttenberg Golf and Country Club.

"The annual banquet is held each January for Chamber members to gather and discuss Chamber events, activities, and projects for the past and upcoming year," said Chamber Director Mandy Ludovissy. "All Guttenberg Chamber members are invited and encouraged to attend the annual meeting, and anyone interested in knowing more about the Guttenberg Chamber is welcome to attend."

Tickets are $20 each, and those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by calling the Guttenberg Welcome Center at 563-252-2323 or emailing guttenberg@alpinecom.net.

The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., a dinner catered by Picket Fence Café will be served at 6 p.m., and the program will begin at 7 p.m.

The program will begin with guest speaker Michael Leclere. He was born into a fourth-generation farming family in Northeast Iowa. He went on to study design at The University of Iowa and The University of Oregon with a focus on community revitalization, creative placemaking, preservation, and sustainability. He currently is a member of the Linn County Historic Preservation Commission, a volunteer with the Community Design Program through the Iowa Architectural Foundation and is involved in the Community Visioning Program run jointly through ISU, the Iowa Department of Transportation, and Trees Forever. These experiences were fundamental to him in illustrating the effects of making design more visible and accessible as a strategy to enhance street life, stimulate local economies and mitigate decline.

Following the guest speaker, the Chamber director will give an overview of 2019 and 2020 activities and events and facilitate any discussion on the direction and focus of the Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce.
