It was noted at the Prairie du Chien School Board meeting Monday night that numerous donations have been made to benefit the fledgling FFA Pick a Pack program.

The FFA introduced the Pick a Pack program in December. All students can participate in the program which is designed to help families with school-aged children which may face extra expenses.

The Pick a Pack program provided back packs of ready to serve foods to be used by students during the recent holiday season. The FFA hopes to make Pick a Pack a lasting program which will provide back packs of food each Friday afternoon and for other school breaks.

The FFA has provided bags of food items for high school students during the past two years, but they wanted to expand the program to include all the students and for more than just the holiday break. All 42 members of the FFA will be helping with Pick a Pack in one way or another.

Many parents have also volunteered to help in any way they can to make the program work.

Several businesses, civic organizations, families and individuals have donated either money, backpacks or other supplies to the Pick a Pack program.

In further business at the school board meeting:

•It was noted that the open enrollment period begins on Feb. 3.

•The board also accepted numerous generous donations from individuals, businesses and organizations for items not related to the Pick a Pack program.

•District administrator interview selections were reviewed in closed session.
