On Jan. 17, at 9:45 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a suspicious vehicle possibly in the ditch near the intersection of Vet Lane and Highway 60 in the town of Bridgeport.

The caller stated that all of the vehicle’s exterior and interior lights were on, and there was loud music coming from the vehicle.

Deputies arrived and saw a vehicle partially in the ditch and a man laying down within the vehicle. The man said that he thought he was at the  “rod and gun” in River Falls. The man was identified as Nicholas Goodwin, 37, of Ellsworth. Goodwin displayed extremely prominent indicators of narcotics impairment. Goodwin was transported to Crossing Rivers Health due to his demeanor and later was medically cleared. Goodwin refused field sobriety tests and was transported to the Crawford County Jail on possible charges of operating with a restricted controlled substance (fourth offense), operating after revocation, failure to install IID and a probation violation.

Assisting at the scene were the Wisconsin State Patrol and Milo’s Towing.
