Patricia J. Scheffert, 85, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, at MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center.

Visitation was Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Patsy was born on Nov. 5, 1934, to Charles and Gertrude (Meyer) Dugan in Charles City. Pat attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated in 1952. On Jan. 22, 1955, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City, Pat married the love of her life Donald Scheffert. Together they were blessed with four children, Susan, Julie, Kathy, and Jim. Pat worked many years beside her husband in the retail grocery industry. When she wasn’t working Pat spent much of her time with her family and especially took much delight spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand kids. 

Patsy was an excellent cook and made many meals that were enjoyed by her family, especially her famous potato salad and coffee cakes. She was a passionate reader and passed on that love to all her children. She had a tremendous faith and a special devotion to the Rosary offering up many intentions for her family and friends. Patsy was a charter member of the Blazerettes, member of the Catholic Daughters of America and coordinated the Prayer Ministry at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. 

Those left to cherish her memory are Pat’s three daughters, Susan (Stephan) Bahls of Guttenberg, Julie (Chris Youngblut) Geuder of Guttenberg, and Kathy (Brian) Oberreuter of Ryan; son, Jim Scheffert of Guttenberg; eight grandchildren, Aaron (Mary) Bahls, Slade (Christina) Bahls, Travis (Michelle) Geuder, Tim Geuder, Trent Geuder, Jade Geuder, Dax Oberreuter and Cassidy Oberreuter; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don in 2017; son-in-law, Tom Geuder; parents-in-law, Joseph and Evelyn Scheffert; sister, Betty Larson; brothers, Jim and Danny Dugan; brother- and sister-in-law, Edward and Shirley Scheffert.

In lieu of flowers and all other styles of sympathy memorials are preferred and they may be mailed to 703 N. 3rd St., Guttenberg, IA 52052.
