Rev. Dwight Albers, 67, of Postville, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan 25, 2020 at his home in Postville. 

He was born Aug 7, 1952 to Herbert and Helen (Beckman) Albers in Wells, Minnesota. 

Dwight graduated from high school in Kiester, Minnesota, attended Dana College in Blair, Nebraska and graduated from Wartburg Seminary in 1997. Dwight was united in marriage with Sharon Pedersen on Sept 26, 1971 in Atlantic, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union. After nearly twenty years of working on farms (and various other jobs) Dwight decided to accept the calling that he had been feeling to go into the ministry. He went back to college in the fall of 1990. He finished college, and went on to four years of seminary at Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque. Growing up in the country, Dwight felt called to rural ministry most of all, and so he served small rural congregations in North Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

Dwight is survived by his wife, Sharon Albers of Postville, Iowa; three sons, Marcus (Emily Bush) Albers of Dubuque, Iowa, Jira (Randele) Albers of New Albany, Pennsylvania and Daniel (Elizabeth) Albers of Aurora, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Nichole, Peder, Mary Beth, William, Ember and Isaac; three great-grandchildren, Trinity, Mavis and Harmony; brother, Robert (Sonia) Albers of Roseville, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Marlin Albers.

A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa with Rev. Erika Lenth as the Officiant. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa is helping the family with the arrangements.
