Bluff View Intermediate School will be performing Charlotte’s Web on Thursday, Feb. 6 in the Prairie du Chien Performing Arts Center. The play is free and open to the general public.

Bluff View teacher and the play’s director, Dale Hanson, said there will also be an afternoon performance at 1:45 p.m. for Bluff View students.

Charlotte’s Web is a novel written by E.B. White and it was adapted as a play by Joseph Robinette.

Hanson said more than 20 students are participating in putting on the play, including actors, actresses, scene creators and set painters. The students involved with the production are in sixth through eighth grade.

Charlotte’s Web was published in 1952 and the play will feature a 1950s era atmosphere and clothing.

Charlotte’s web is high up in Zuckerman’s barn, and from her spiderweb, Charlotte tells of her feelings for a little pig named Wilbur, who simply wants a friend. Also expressed is the love of a girl named Fern, who saved Wilbur’s life when he was born the runt of his litter.

E.B. White’s Newbery Honor Book is a tender novel of friendship, love, life, and death that will continue to be enjoyed by generations to come.
