Prairie du Chien High School Principal Andy Banasik will become the new District Administrator for the Prairie du Chien Area School District.
During its regular meeting Monday night, the Prairie du Chien School Board hired Banasik to replace interim District Administrator Bryce Bird.
Bird said it will probably take a few weeks to work out contract details, and that Banasik will begin his duties as district administrator on July 1, which will give the district time to hire a new high school principal.
“I think Andy is going to be a really good fit,” said Bird. “He’s a good leader, a hard worker, and has a lot of good community connections.”
Bird said there were 10 applicants for the position of district administrator. The School Board interviewed four candidates and then narrowed it down to two finalists.
Banasik has been the high school principal since 1996. He earned his educational degree at UW-Platteville and his administrative degree at Winona State University. He is a 1986 Prairie du Chien High School graduate.
