MFL MarMac’s star running back, Kutter Anderson, has committed to play football at Morningside College, in Sioux City. The senior, surrounded by his family and teammates, signed a letter of intent last week.

Anderson became the school’s first 1,000-yard rusher this past season and earned both all-district and all-state accolades. That, paired with his leadership abilities, piqued Morningside’s interest, he said.

“They really liked my speed and my bursts and really liked my vision, being able to see cuts and make those cuts,” he commented.

Anderson credited his teammates for helping to put him in this position—one he’s dreamt of from an early age.

“I got into football and thought, ‘I can see myself doing this at the next level,’” he shared. “God gave me a chance to do that, and I’m grateful.”

Anderson said he was attracted to Morningside’s culture and family atmosphere.

“I got to talk to every coach, and I got a really good vibe,” he explained. “I had lunch with the players and loved every single one of them. They’re down to earth guys, and I can see myself playing with them for the next four years.”

It doesn’t hurt that Morningside is a winning program. The team has won two straight NAIA national championships and hasn’t lost a conference game since 2014.

Anderson said he’s not intimidated by the success. In fact, the past historic season at MFL MarMac has prepared him for it.

“I think it’s prepared me to be the best football player I can be, playing at a high level and expecting to win every game, like they do,” he stated.

But he acknowledges it won’t be easy.

“They have two really good running backs who are going to be seniors, and one of them almost ran for 2,000 yards. After they’re gone, then I’ll hopefully get my chance,” Anderson said. “I see it as a challenge and know I can do it. I just have to keep working hard and being grateful.”

While at Morningside, Anderson said he plans to pursue business management.
