La Crosse businessman Dan Kapanke announced Feb. 12, he will run to return to the state Senate. Kapanke will run in the 32nd Senate district, a seat he previously held for over six years, which includes all of La Crosse and Crawford counties, most of Vernon and a portion of Monroe county.

“Now, more than ever, the people of Western Wisconsin need a voice in Madison—one that knows our values, our concerns, and our needs,” Kapanke said. “I was born and raised here, and had the honor of serving my neighbors and friends in the past. I will again be that person you can count on to represent you.”

Dan was born on a farm in the Coon Valley area, near La Crosse. He is a graduate of Onalaska Luther High School and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in political science and economics and a masters of education in professional development. He is proud to have served his state and country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and Wisconsin National Guard.

Kapanke, together with his wife Ruth, founded and remain owners of the La Crosse Loggers baseball team. Previously, he was a substitute teacher and district sales manager for Pride Seed Company and Kaltenberg Seed Farms for over 20 years.

Dan and his wife Ruth live in the town of Campbell. They have four children and 13 grandchildren.
