Penny Sue Pfeiffer, 57, of Marquette, died Monday, March 2, 2020, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Penny was born Feb. 4, 1963, to Raymond and Delva (Clausman) Huntbach in Waterloo. She graduated from Central High School in Waterloo and attended one year of college at North Western Missouri State in Maryville, Mo.

Penny was united in marriage with Kent Pfeiffer on April 28, 1990, at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor. Two sons were born to this union. Penny was a sergeant at the Prairie du Chien Correctional Facility since 2001. Previously she was the owner and operator of Black Hawk Dry Cleaners for nine years. She loved going to the Tropics with her husband, Kent, and spending time on the Mississippi River, boating and water skiing. Penny’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Penny is survived by her husband, Kent, of Marquette; her two sons, Donald James “D.J.” Pfeiffer (fiancé, Annika Balekos) and Samuel Lee Pfeiffer (Kierstin Kuhns); her mother, Delva Huntbach, of Cresco; and three sisters, Jeani (Shahram) Varzavand of Waterloo, Janet (Michael) Clark of Waterloo, and Jody Myers of Cresco.

Preceding Penny in death were her father, Raymond Huntbach, and one brother, James Huntbach.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at St. Mary Catholic Church, McGregor. There will also be a one-hour visitation before mass at the church on Monday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 9, at St. Mary Catholic Church, McGregor, with Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez as the celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, McGregor.

Memorials may be given to the McGregor Library, Mar-Mac Rescue Squad and McGregor Hook and Ladder Co.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor is helping the family with arrangements.
